The English company Wedgwood began producing tableware in 1759. Wedgwood obtained the right to use the honorary title Queen's Ware from Queen Charlotte in 1766 for earthenware tableware. Queen's Ware was a fine, cream-colored earthenware series developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the mid-18th century.
Today, the Wedgwood Edme version of this classic cream-colored tableware is perhaps the most famous Wedgwood tableware available. The Edme tableware was designed by Wedgwood's then Art Director, John Goodwin. Edmé was the first name of one of the Wedgwood brothers. Wedgwood Edme is made of very durable stoneware, which is dishwasher and microwave safe. The Edme tableware was in production for over 100 years but was discontinued in mid-2024.
