The English Wedgwood started producing tableware in 1759. Wedgwood obtained the right to use the honorary title Queen's Ware from Queen Charlotte in 1766 for earthenware tableware. The Queen's Ware tableware was a fine, cream-coloured earthenware tableware range developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the mid-18th century.
Today, the Wedgwood Edme variant of this classic cream-colored tableware is perhaps the most famous Wedgwood tableware there is. The Edme tableware was designed by the then Art Director of Wedgwood, John Goodwin. Edmé was the first name of one of the Wedgwood brothers. Wedgwood Edme is made of very strong earthenware, which is suitable for use in the dishwasher and microwave. The Edme tableware was in production for more than 100 years, but was finally stopped in mid-2024.
